In the Finnish army's greys, young Petri began to ponder what he would become when he grew up. After the army, he would have to manage on his own.

After leaving the army

There were savings of 2000 marks from jobs done before the army. After leaving the army, Pete bought a "well-driven" Toyota HiAce for a thousand marks, and with the other thousand, he filled the car with candy from the local quick shop. Pete got to work, and off he went with the car full of candy to the markets!

The business grew rapidly, and wholesale operations were also started. Now the old Hiace was no longer sufficient, so it was replaced with a truck. In order for Petri to make it to the next market event the following day, he drove the truck at night. The days were quite long, as during the first ten years as a merchant, he drove an average of 140,000 km per year. The distance driven corresponded to 3.5 rounds around the world.

1991-1995
Activity expands internationally

The sales volume was already at a level where larger deals were considered. There was also work for others. Pete hired the first employees, and they are still with Finnsweet today. Pete noted that the world was full of candies that were still missing from Finland. This is how the candy import business began.
